The management-labor of Hyundai Doosan Infracore, a subsidiary of Hyundai Genuine, the intermediate holding company in the construction machinery sector of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, decided to proactively participate together in Hyundai Heavy Industries Group’s 1% Sharing Foundation activities.
Hyundai Doosan Infracore conducted a ceremony on Oct 13 in Incheon, Korea, and delivered sixty walker carts for seniors in the local community. The Mayor of Dong-gu, Incheon, Kim Chan-jin, Hyundai Doosan Infracore CEO Cho Young-cheul and Oh Seung-hyun, Labor Union Head Yoo Joon-mo and other management-labor representatives joined to celebrate the occasion.
Walker carts, also referred to silver cars in Korea, are a walking frame that aids adult users, usually seniors that have difficulty moving around freely. It is widely used among the older generation, but due to its high price, many are using strollers instead as a cheaper alternative.
Acknowledging such issues, Hyundai Doosan Infracore’s management-labor parties donated sixty walker carts worth 10 million KRW for local seniors as part of their first ‘1% Sharing Foundation’ project and delivered them to a social welfare facility in Incheon.
“This event has become even more meaningful with both the management and labor union participating,” said Hyundai Doosan Infracore CEO Cho Young-cheul, and added, “I hope this will become an opportunity for us to take a look around and show support to our neighbors that may be socially marginalized.”
Labor Union Head Yoo Joon-mo also mentioned, “the labor union decided to join the foundation’s efforts as we can help support our local community while growing beyond our current relationship and work together with the management” and continued, “the union plans to continue such warm efforts with the foundation and hopes to see more growth going forward.”
Hyundai Doosan Infracore’s management-labor parties also hosted an event earlier the same day for the ‘2022 Wage and Collective Agreement’ which reached its final settlement last Friday, consolidating harmony between the two parties.
Meanwhile, the Hyundai Heavy Industries Group’s 1% Sharing Foundation mobilizes voluntarily donated funds from HHI Group employees’ salary and unfolds different social contributions such as care for the marginalized and support for co-prosperity with local communities. <End>
